Our Story
Belmont Farms is a fourth-generation farm that spans almost 100 years. Our story began with our great grandfather, Turner McMahan. He purchased the farm in 1937. It was a homestead farm back then. Not only did he grow a large variety of fruits and vegetables, but also raised cows, chickens and pigs.
When his son, Kenneth McMahan began farming, he added horse breeding to the farm production. Third generation farmer, Don McMahan began to add more agricultural production to what the farm was doing. He added Sevier County's only you-pick strawberry fields, sorghum production and a large-scale pumpkin farming.
Now, in the fourth generation, Shelley McMahan Stockton has brought the focus of the farm back to breeding with Belmont Breeders. At Belmont Breeders, we are focused on taking all those years of hard work and experience to breed the healthiest American Kennel Club registered Shih Tzu puppies anywhere. Our parent dogs are fed home-made dog food to ensure the best possible nutrition. They are under the best veterinary care before, during and after their whelping.
Our Heritage
Belmont Farms was named after the one-room school house that was originally located on the property.
Belmont School was started in order to provide education to the children in the Jones Cove Valley.
After the school was no longer in use, Turner McMahan built the main barn that still stands in the location of the original school.
Our Family
Stephen and Shelley Stockton, along with their children, Sarah, Sean and Seth work together to care for the dogs at our home. We are truly a family breeder! When we bought our first Shih Tzu, we knew that we wanted to breed them. We wanted to share the love of Shih Tzu puppies with other families.
We are a family breeders. Our dogs are with us from the time they are born until they go to their forever homes. The love and care we give our dogs is why we can guarantee the best Shih Tzu puppies anywhere in the country.
